I really didn't find anything in her performance to inspire and her voice often didn't reach me up in the rafters or was swallowed up by the orchestra. Morris was fine, but not spine-tingling. But still, even a mediocre performance of die Walkure is moving enough. I realize they can't all be Flagstad, but it seems even the average peformers of yesteryear were stronger than they are today. Her voice reached right into my soul, way up in the cheap seats. Mazel was, imo, terrible. No sense of drama, no passion.
