Hick in the Hood Life as a hick in the hood, yo, it's not easy, If you think it would be fool, then you're crazy. I'd much rather be in Alabama tending to my crops, But instead I'm in the city where I have to keep my doors locked. I'm a yokel, a bumpkin, a country boy, Seeing all the homies walk around makes me feel so coy. I wear a button up shirt, and some ripped jeans, The terror of this city is beginning to invade my dreams. It takes some getting used to for this city-slicker life, I must convert my rustic ways which bring about this strife. But when they told me, "no hog farms", that's a lil' much, "You're dumber than a stump!" they say as they play double dutch. When I walk beside the factories, I sense something strange, I better keep my mouth shut before my face gets re-arranged. I feel like a kidney transplant, unaccepted, And when I draw my conclusion, I see all that's left is, Urban life, is not as simple as I'd like, Southern-bred, these streets I walk might get me dead. All them gangsters see me when I go out, I try to sneak around the corner but they feel the need to shout: "Hey yo redneck, what you think you doin' here!?" Even though they're all talk, I can't help but be filled with fear. It boils up deep down inside, I wonder when it will explode, Maybe as I jay-walk across the busy road. Take a deep breath, I'm safely to the other side, Oops, I dropped my wallet which got stolen by that guy. |
