95% of fights end up on the ground so why not train in an art that gives you the advantage 95% of the time? Check out UFC 1,2,3 Royce Gracie kill everyone! BJJ is the most effective. Anything was ok in the early UFC even elbows hair pulling and groin shot if the fighter wants to pay the 1000 dollar penalty.

just the opposite is true....an effective takedown with quick finish is the fastest and most effective way to end a fight. usually, 9 times out of 10, the person you are taking down has no idea how to defend a takedown or a submission, which allows for a quick finish. the one punch knockout is a great way to finish, if you can get in position to strike and have enough power in your punch to KO him

u guys cant discuss the out come of teh fight, it depends on the fighter. it is not true to say in order to beat bjj, u need grappling skills, u always have to consider teh fighter, e.g if teh bjj is struck before he has a chance to get teh grapply the fight could b over. ans elbows are not allied in tournaments like these because they want to minimize injury

Someone please help me ? I have a question - no doubt bjj is very good in ground combat but the bjj fighters always attack trying to grab your legs and get u down. Often they are grabbed by the other fighter round the neck and they mange to get out sometime later. But what if you would just pull it up when you have the hold on their neck and snap their spine ? or just hammer an elbow down on their spine ? is that not allowed in these fights ? elbows should be allowed or not ?

well, no doubt about that anymore. it's proven it's very hard to beat grappling using striking alone, without skills in grappling.

most fights start with throwing punches. and it ends if you know how to throw an effective punch. no need to prolong the fight and take it to the ground.

but most fights start with throwing punches. and the fight ends when a guy throws a punch that works.

yes, no doubt. but i wasnt talking about tyson vs. grappler. i was talking streetfighter, and not all streetfighter know grappling, but they throw haymakers, and tyson is better eqipped to trade punches with those guuys.
